I got a cold. I'd just started ramping up my mileage, at the recommended level of an additional 10% per week so as not to pound my immune system into smithereens or injure myself, and what happens? I get the sore throat from hell which lasts 3 days before it started to wane.
Just as I thought I was getting better the sore throat came back, and with it the runny nose, and a potentially rib cracking cough. This is seriously not fair. Yet again something has stopped me from running, I'm getting quite depressed about all the holdups in my training.
At this rate I'll never even start my first real race, let alone finish it.
I couldn't have a more healthy diet. No junk food, no fried foods, limited processed foods, plenty of fruit and vegetables, red meat once a month, homecooked meals, a bit too much chocolate, no tea or coffee, no alcohol, no smoking. Plus through the winter additional vitamin and multi-mineral supplements, especially vitamin C and zinc.
My doctor says I'm the model patient for diet and exercise. So why this winter has my training dropped off, my mileage is now significantly less than before the winter when I transferred to the treadmill, and my weight isn't shifting an ounce.
Dunno.
If you've got any suggestions let me know because I'm feeling piggin' sick of going round in circles and not making any training headway.
