Well I’ve been here about a month now and life is good. I have these humans wrapped around my little paw, they can’t do enough for me. But never let it be said I’m an ungrateful kitty, I give them lots of special purrs and roll over a lot so they can give me belly rubs… it seems to give them pleasure.
Continue reading "Scooter the Cat has scored!"

For some strange reason Mom & Dad don’t let me have the run of the house at night while they’re asleep, can’t think why.

Anyway each night about 10pm we have a little game where they try to get me into my bedroom voluntarily and I pretend I’m asleep on one of my many beds they have dotted around the house.

It’s pretty cool really, they have a bed for me in almost every room, Mom even made two big puffy beds for me from an old down quilt, I sink right into it, lovely... sigh!
So I guess y’all want to know why I’ve got a stump for a tail?

Well according to my new vet it’s a birth defect, not an amputation. But tail or no tail I can still wag my stump at high speed when I want to. I’m told I should really have a big bushy raccoon-like tail, well I have a big bushy stump, makes me all the cuter.

So I’ve been here in the mountains for about a week now and I’m gettin’ into the swing of being a Prairie kitty in the Rockies.
We left off with me leaving my temporary home of 4 months to start a new life in the mountains.

Well the journey home wasn't too much fun and I guess that perhaps I had too much breakfast because I ended up embarrassing myself by pooping in my carrier a few minutes before we finally stopped.
The results were not what I expected, nor I think the instructor.

After running the results through the analysis program it came up with an RMR equivalent to 2,260 calories per day. So that means that I can burn 2,260 calories per day simply by sitting still and not moving a muscle all day. Yeah right!
Well the advert leapt out at me from the local paper. It said "Do you finally need a PLAN to achieve your weight loss goals?" "Then you need this. Body BluePrint. Building Bodies in Balance." And so conveniently located at LifeWorks just a few minutes from the house.

It seemed like fate. My weight, despite the running and calorie controlling, was not budging even the tiniest bit in the downwards direction. This advert was promising to give me a 7 day dietary assessment, a Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) assessment, nutritional plan & consultation, exercise metabolic profile, 6 week exercise plan using heart rate zones, all for the special price of $259.
I got a cold. I'd just started ramping up my mileage, at the recommended level of an additional 10% per week so as not to pound my immune system into smithereens or injure myself, and what happens? I get the sore throat from hell which lasts 3 days before it started to wane.

Just as I thought I was getting better the sore throat came back, and with it the runny nose, and a potentially rib cracking cough. This is seriously not fair. Yet again something has stopped me from running, I'm getting quite depressed about all the holdups in my training.

At this rate I'll never even start my first real race, let alone finish it.
